Apple detailed a slew of major upgrades to its existing hardware and announced a new desktop computer during its product presentation on Tuesday. The tech giant also announced that it plans to put its own chip in every device that the company produces.
The CEO, Tim Cook also announced that Major League Baseball is coming to Apple TV+. Users will be able to watch the league free from local broadcast restrictions. The date for when the service will come to Apple TV+ is not confirmed by Apple, but rather the company has said that it will start as soon as the new season begins.
Apple also announced an upgrade to its iPhone and iPhone SE. Both the devices will be getting a new much more powerful chip and 5G connectivity. With the upgrade, the price of these two devices will also take a hike. The design will be the same as the previous models and it is scheduled to launch on March 18.
Other than iPhone, the company is also planning to bring out the iPad Air with the M1 chip that powers the iPad Pro. It will also get the 5G connectivity.
The highlight of the presentation was the new Mac desktop named Mac Studio. Apple unveiled its new Mac Studio desktop computer. The new desktop is more powerful than the Mini, but not as much as the Mac Pro.
It features the M1 Max chip, and can even be upgraded to be more powerful with the M1 Ultra chip, a chip that offers faster performance than even the highest-end PC GPU available.
The base level of the Mac Studio starts at $2,000, but the Mac Studio with the new M1 Ultra chip starts at double that price of $4,000. The new Mac Studio also comes with more memory storage and a few extra ports. The desktop is available for pre-order and is scheduled to launch on March 18.
