News Synopsis

Air India will begin operating 24 additional domestic flights today. "The additional 24 flights include two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, as well as from Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, as well as one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route and Ahmedabad-Pune route," the Tata group said in a statement.

"Over the past six months, Air India has been working closely with our partners to return aircraft to service, and we are thrilled that this effort is now bearing fruit," said Air India MD and CEO Campbell Wilson. It will be the first significant boost in flight capacity since Tata Sons took over the airline from the government earlier this year.

"The strengthening of domestic connection has been enabled as additional aircraft return to service," an airline spokeswoman said, adding that the increase will serve to growing traffic between India's key metros and facilitate comfortable travel during the forthcoming festive season. Two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, as well as Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, are among the 24 new flights. It also adds a new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru and Ahmedabad-Pune routes.

"These additions will provide flyers with more travel options between key metros in the late afternoon and evening, bringing Air India's daily frequencies to ten flights each way between Delhi and Mumbai, seven flights each way between Delhi and Bengaluru, and four flights each way between Mumbai and Bengaluru," the airline said.
