Pitbull Early Life
Armando Christian Pérez was born in Miami, Florida, on January 15, 1981, to Cuban immigrant parents. He is an American first-generation citizen. His family urged him to "take advantage" of the benefit of living in America and the chances that came with it as he grew up. In Cuba, his family has a history of resisting the Castro regime.
He could recite the works of José Marti, Cuba's national hero and poet, in Spanish when he was three years old.
As a child, he learned English by watching Sesame Street. His father was largely absent from his upbringing; his parents divorced when he was young, and he was primarily reared by his mother, whom he subsequently described as "my father and mother." He lived with a foster family in Roswell, Georgia, for a short time.
His parents struggled with substance misuse, and he was involved in drug usage and dealing as a teenager, which led to him being kicked out of the family home. He went to Miami Coral Park High School and South Miami Senior High School.
He was influenced by the Miami bass pop music genre as a child, citing Celia Cruz and Willy Chirino as sources of inspiration, as well as rappers Nas, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg.
He cites Miami's "melting pot" of a city as exposing him to many different cultures and instilling key life lessons in him, hinting that he would not be the guy he is now if it weren't for his upbringing there.
He chose the stage name Pitbull because of the dog "To lock, bite. The dog is far too foolish to be defeated. They're also illegal in Dade County.
"They are essentially all I am. It's been a never-ending battle ". Pitbull was featured on Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz album Kings of Crunk in 2002 after meeting him in Miami. The following year, Pitbull's song "Oye" was included on the soundtrack of the film 2 Fast 2 Furious. Pitbull also released several mixtapes with freestyles and remixes of popular rap songs.
