Samsung And MeitY Will Train Indian Youth To Create Real-Life Innovations

For the second season of its nationwide education and innovation competition, Samsung India announced on Tuesday that it has collaborated with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub and Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi.

The initiative, known as 'Samsung Solve for Tomorrow,' welcomes young people in the age range of 16 to 22 to apply their creative ideas about diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, environment, sustainability, education, and learning.

The top three teams will get Rs 1.5 crore to implement their ideas, while additional participants who rank in the top 30 and top 10 will receive rewards throughout the programme.

Mentoring and training will be provided to participants by Samsung, IIT Delhi, and MeitY Startup Hub.

"The vision of the government is to promote a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country, and youth are at the centre of this. They need all the support and mentoring that can help them turn their ideas into reality, creating a strong social impact along the way," said Alkesh Kumar Sharma, MeitY's secretary.

Almost 18,000 young people nationwide registered for the initiative's first season in 2022. Anybody in India between the ages of 16 and 22 may apply this year till May 31 at 5 p.m.

"The entries we got in the first season provided us with a unique snapshot of the concerns and issues on the minds of India's youth. They looked at issues ranging from waste management, electricity, and water wastage, plastic waste, speech disorders as well as pandemic prediction and solutions," said JongBum Park, CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia.

The "Solve for Tomorrow" programme, which was first introduced in the US in 2010, is now operational in 63 countries and has attracted the participation of over 2.3 million young people.

Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, added, "We are happy to partner with Samsung to enable young innovators to convert their ideas into solutions for real-world problems through the 'Solve for Tomorrow' competition,"
