News Synopsis

Reports released by the Policy Institute at the University of Chicago are not pleasant at all given the perspectives it holds for India and the future of North Indian. The report suggests that a person in North India breathes ten times more polluted air than anywhere else in the world. The country’s continued use of fossil fuel for electricity production, uncontrolled vehicular exhaust, fumes from refineries, and various other innumerable industries poses a great risk for the citizens of India. Reports now suggest that Indians are bound to lose a total of nine years of their lifespan because of air pollution, especially people in north India.

India, a country where about a million people die each year because of air pollution should seriously consider adopting measures to reduce air pollution. It has been predicted that sooner or later, harmful polluting fumes shall spread to the states of Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh, killing more people and reducing their life expectancy by 2 or 3 years. It has been noted that apart from India, other countries of the Indian subcontinent are facing the same problem too, countries such as China, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh too are looming under the terror of air pollution.
