News Synopsis

In Maharashtra, the monsoon season begins in June and lasts until September. The monsoon season causes deaths and mass displacement every year. While the rich and well-off enjoy the rain from the comfort of their house, it’s the poverty-ridden part of the population that always bears the burden of this season. People have been complaining of the poor infrastructure of the state for ages but it seems all the complaints have fallen on the deaf ears of the government.

It is the responsibility of the government to make sure that people are safe during this season. Apart from the heavy rain and floods, another recent problem that now occurs quite frequently is landslides. Every year many lives are affected by it the government has failed to bring any effective change whatsoever. It has become a cycle, that just repeats itself every year. This year too we are seeing the same pattern emerge. Thankfully the rescue team has reached the affected areas and is rescuing people safely from their homes. People who are trapped inside their homes have been asked by the administration to come to their rooftops so that they can be rescued. But this can't go on indefinitely. There must be a long-term solution to this issue.
