Breast Cancer Awareness Month Victoria Secret collaborates with Stella McCartney signs cure and beginning of breast cancer

Victoria's Secret is collaborating with fashion designer and breast cancer awareness campaigner Stella McCartney to develop a collection of mastectomy bras. This upcoming lingerie product is part of a larger effort to raise awareness about the risks of breast cancer during October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  90% of women diagnosed with stage I breast cancer will live for at least 5 years after their diagnosis. (Most of these ladies would outlive their diagnosis by considerably more than 5 years.) Overall survival differs depending on the stage of breast cancer.

According to a press release from Victoria's Secret, the mastectomy bra is particularly created for women with breast cancer and is manufactured with no wire, soft material, and a pocket in the inside lining to suit a prosthesis. For the month of October, the bra is available for ten dollars with all revenues benefiting The Victoria's Secret Global Fund for Women's Cancers. 

Under new management, Victoria's Secret is shifting away from model-based marketing and toward a more general audience of women. The lingerie retailer has renovated its storefronts, ditching the distinctive pink hue, décor, and unrealistic-looking mannequins in favor of a more contemporary style. Victoria's Secret intends to renovate approximately over 1,000 shops within the span of five years.
